Permalink Reply by Susan Dejnozka on August 22, 2012 at 1:26pm Hello from Rio Verde, AZ., just north of Scottsdale, AZ. This past weekend, we went to Red Rock in Sedona with the vortexes, and then visited the Jerome Grand Hotel (the Ghost Adventures Crew investigated it last year. While there, we ate at the Asylum, their restaurant. It was supernaturally fun. Loving the entire place and will return later to stay overnight at the Jerome Grand and do ghost hunts and hearing from the spirits of yesteryear.
So glad to be here!
Permalink Reply by Heather Revie-Borland on August 23, 2012 at 12:15pm Portal hauntings are the most controversial type of haunting. Some people believe that portals exist between the physical and spirit worlds. Some believe portals acts as a door for ghosts to cross over from the other side to the physical realm. Others believe portal hauntings to be doorways between the earth, other dimensions, or other worlds. Either way no one knows for sure if they actually exist, let alone what they may be. Most stories for portal hauntings include glowing balls of light, odd creatures, strange shapes, or unexplained images. Portal hauntings can be found near underground waterways. However, for some reason they are most commonly located at graveyards. Some have thought the graveyards may have been built not knowing that these sites may have been "haunted" before it was located there. It is possible that the psychic draw of the area was what cause our ancestors to locate a cemetery there in the first place. The Natvie Americans purposely chose their burial grounds in this manner. They found a place to bury and honor the dead which they felt was more closely connect to the next world. Many of these locations are now considered to be "haunted" or at least inhabited by spirits. This type of haunting is also known as "vortex haunting". In ghost photographs, many ghost hunters strongly believe that "vortexes" are evidence of portals. A vortex usually appears as a streak of white ectoplasm mist, and is typically confused with photos of mistakenly snapped camera straps in front of the lens.
