Was ths taken with a flash? ..or was there any light source used by you to look up the stairs?....flask light? trouble light? The reason I ask is that...(although not illuminated), there are quite a few other circular particles floating in the same vicinity seen in this photo...which leads to the possibility that this is dust...which is hard to believe when you see something appearing so bright.But the way light can strike a small object combined with how a camera lens interprets..you can get this phenomenon. There is at least one more similar sized "non illuminted" circular partical nearby with exact configuration which leads me to believe there is nothing paranormal about this capture. Thoughts?

It's not paranormal it's airborne particulate matter reflecting light back from the camera's flash. Never use flash to capture the paranormal.

If there was a flash used it may be a reflection off an insect. To reduce the chance of this effect, try using a full spectrum camera with an illuminator. It will help a lot! I included another example and you can see the orange orb on the left hand side of the pic, it is also an insect. Insects can be tiny and easy to miss with the naked eye!
